And I know it's long gone and there was nothing else I could do And I forget about you long enough to forget why I needed to
Once the wounds were treated and the blood had stopped flowing, Frecklefern slept. Each time she laid in her nest her eyes would flutter closed but they would only stay that way as long as her mind would stay quiet. Images from that night would flash through her mind and she’d startle herself awake. Even though there was no blood she could still smell the metallics lingering in the air. At some point in the night she’d simply tire of awaking and refuse to lay back down though her nest beckoned to her more and more. In the dead of night the medicine cat would leave her den to be greeted by the guard who sat to ensure the she didn’t slip off again to cause more trouble. Though she didn’t like the prying eyes, she’d rather it only be one set rather than the entire clan. Since that night she hadn’t left her den more often than needed, even bringing all of her meals to her den to enjoy on her own. The fireflowers that had lined the ceiling had been pulled down to leave only the darkness behind.
As the sun began to rose Frecklefern had pushed her way through the small crevice that divided the two dens into the space where all of her patients typically rested. Now that many had regained their strength they had left the den to go back to sleep elsewhere. Once they had left Frecklefern had gotten what she so badly craved.
To be alone.
Alone with her thoughts, alone with the reminders of what had happened that night, alone with the ghosts that haunted her. Slowly the medicine pulled at the herbs that were tucked away in the crevice, attempting and sort them and trying to figure out what was left after all that had occurred. There were still small splashes of blood scattered throughout her pelt in the places she wasn’t able to reach and now she was nearly numb to the fact that they were even there. The motion of her pulling herbs was slow and repetitive, almost enough that if someone watched her long enough they would have sworn she picked the same herbs up simply to put them right back.
Don’t live in the past Frecklefern. Find a way to keep going and not to kill another.
Oh this was a fine day! Yes indeed! Somber sorrows tottered elsewhere from both Plumpetal's mind and her mates, now with a month fleeting by the two shared their new found information discreetly. First up was Milkdapple's sister, their very own Medicine Cat. One would be stupendously anxious to speak with such a being close to Helios, but neigh Frecklefern would be the most understanding right? For after all the femme was a extension between both worlds, and if she any questions or concerns their glorious God would clear them up without a doubt.
Pap pap pap
Plumpetal's regular entourage clung haphazardly to fine fibers of her chocolate pelt, monarchs were always flitting about mistaking her scent for wild flower. One day they appeared just as her pregnancy had, sudden but fully welcomed. A few monarchs found themselves too lethargic to keep up with the femme's pace so they leisurely trailed after in pairs. "Ah you'll all be leaving soon right? Off to wherever it is you all roam in LeafBare, I will always be here waiting your return." She murred to the insects as she passed the nursery, "See that den? It's our Nursery, I thank Helios I will lay inside there in the upcoming months," tilting her small cranium backwards she squinted at the fiery orb above, "Thank you Helios so are looking beautiful this morning."
Pap pap pap
Plumpetal's toes tapped along the clearing's bare terrain, it was a tad bit chillier than it was the day before but the femme paid no mind to it. The recently mated pair were due for a winter litter after all, *I wonder if they will like snow, how pretty my lovelies will be playing in the gifts of Helios* Plumpetal's sugary words laced the humble headspace she relaxed into as she then neared the Medicine Cat's quarters. "Oh dearest sister-in-claw~ I come bearing wonderful news!" but no one seemed home, "Frecklefern? Where on earth are all you lovely decorations?" Plumpetal was scanning the domain before landing her bubbling eyes over to her family member, the molly seemed to be muddied in the head. "Frecklefern my dear, you do not seem well...like yourself how are you?"

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Frecklefern had come to enjoy the quiet, the solace of being alone. It was hard to feel as welcome in conversation as she couldn’t stop picturing the curved smile of Snappaw where the fox had hooked his claw into him or seeing Serpenthoard’s teeth that now protruded from his jaw. Even Fallingstar, one whose den she had made herself welcome in before hadn’t been allowed back in hers. It wasn’t for lack of trying, but the fact that she didn’t wish to see him yet. As she heard movement behind her she half expected to turn around and spot Pansypelt who was a common visitor yet as she turned around she was greeted by a different voice.
“Ah Sugarplum! Been a minute since I see ya.” The she placed down the herbs she had been sorting to ensure she could return to them later, but if someone came in who was happy to see her than they deserved her full attention. As the decorations were mentioned Frecklefern seemed to almost stifle a cough. “It seemed like time fir a change. There’s some nice leaves fallin’. Might put some of them up soon.” She hadn’t lied, maybe some leaffall foliage would be a nice change of pace for her den but that wasn’t the reason she had taken down the fireflowers that hung from overhead. It was easier to ignore the damage she had inflicted if it wasn’t illuminated by the flowers gifted to them by the god.
As Plumpetal mentioned the mottled she’s own state she shook her head. “I’m fine. Just a lil’ tired. But ya ain’t gotta worry about me.” She said, placing her own paw ontop of her sister’s in laws. Frecklefern would be fine in time and didn’t need anyone fretting over her. Least of all she didn’t need her sister finding out. Milkdapple didn’t need to worry over her like they were kits again. She would be fine eventually, all she needed was time. The moment passed and hers eyes darted up to meet the one who she cared so dearly for. “Enough about me. Ya said ya had some wonderful news for me. Go on and tell me. Always love when someone comes in here to share something good rather than being hurt.” Frecklefern nudged the she’s chest her with paw as she sat back on her haunches in front of her.
Hopefully there would be something good to come from this moon.
Tapping her petite talons along dense flooring was a nervous habit she intended on breaking one day. However, that little oddity seemed to be a little tricky today and perhaps she was leaning into those nerves unlike earlier. By now, monarchs had fluttered inwards to explore the den and it’s hidden secrets, __Plumpetal__ paid them no mind for she was used to their abundant presence. Contentment fluttering along the soft edges to the expecting mollies features as she smiled in a lively manner towards her sister in law, **”Well when you decide to change your scenery in here I would be more than happy to help you, I am curious what all you would use this time you always have such crafty creativity!”** Settling down into a neat sitting position the molly placed herself in a regal way, laced along her pelt were various flowers she and __Milkdapple__ had picked together earlier in the day.
Without those lovely decorations __Plumpetal__ felt the heavy emotions stronger than before, __Frecklfern__ had something troubling her but if the Medicine Cat refused to speak of it the mattered wouldn’t be pressed. Everyone had their limitations and those boundaries were to be respected, there were no if’s and’s or but’s. __Frecklefern’s_ paw overlapped her own with a warmth well entrusted, blinking up from her heavy set lashes __Plumpetal__ pressed her lips together before exposing her latest gossip. **”I would love to be the one to inform you of this, my love and your sister have been harboring a little something from the clan and it’s not bad at all! Nothing bad- it’s just- we are well...expecting”**
Softly did the timid chuckle rise from the chocolate femme, it was both a delight and tremenous weight to relief herself of. **”I am quite sure you are confused, we’ve only alerted a few individuals of this. And most of the clan- well I would say the entirety is aware I am incapable of bearing young.”** A simple pause flicked through the air while a monarch fluttered between them and __Frecklefern’s__ possible dumbfounded expression. **”We believe you will understand us more when we say Helios has heard our prayers, our mighty Lord has given us kits as would any couple.”** The femme rolled her shoulder forwards so that her balance was focused mainly on that joint, bringing out an extreme femine quality to her character. **”I would say this was about two perhaps 3 months ago.”**

I know it's long gone and that magic's not here no more
The honey sweet she had always been allowed to come and go as she pleased from within the medicine cats den. Even now as Frecklefern fought with her inner demons, there was a light that Plumpetal brought to the den that always made the she feel comfortable. When Milkdapple had said she was going to take the she for her mate, the medicine cat couldn’t tell who she was more excited for. Her sister for finding someone she truly loved, something their mother had always wished for them, or for herself as it meant that there was an excuse for Plumpetal to stay in her life. No matter what the case, the fact reminded that they were both better off with her in their lives.
The small monarchs fluttered around her head, causing the she’s ears to twitch as the soft beat of their wings reached her ears. For a moment she was distracted in watching the summer insects explore her den but as her bonus sister spoke her attention snapped back upon her. “Once I decided what I want to do Imma make sure I come git ya. Always nice to have a helpin’ paw, especially fir those cracks on the roof I can’t reach alone.” Her gaze drifted to the roof which was one alight with the fireflowers from the clan, no sitting barren as it waited for their return. Even though she had no clue if she’d put the taunting flowers back to where many had been acquainted in seeing them, it was nice to know that Plumpetal would be willing to assist her if that time ever did happen.
Then the conversation shifted. It was rare that she saw Plumpetal as…. distressed as she seemed right now. Though she didn’t seem on the end of rope as some of those who entered her den did, she seemed worried. It wasn’t often that that emotion reared its head around the medicine cat as when it did appear it was intertwined with that of fear. As they sat and the words began to flow from the other molly Frecklefern’s expression shifted. Her eyes narrowed and her brows raised for a moment. It was as if her brain was trying to solve a puzzle where an image had not be provided. Her paw tapped on the earth in her den like in doing so the explanation would appear. The expression on her face must have been clear as she Plumpetal continued to speak.
Once she was finally finished Frecklefern sat in silence with the she for a moment. She was still trying to wrap her head around what she had been told and for a moment her gaze shifted to the scar the god had left her around her wrist.
Helios I swear to god.
It was ten that she realized she had left the molly sitting in silence. The mottled she cleared her throat as she shifted to look back at her. “Well I’m be damned! I ain’t know what I was expectin’ ya to say but it wasn’t that. I am happy for y’all I really am.” Frecklefern’s speckled nose pressed into the she’s chest quickly before pulling back away. “Ya and Milk gonna make great parents. I mean, she half raised me and I think I came out pretty okay.” She chuckled at her own words, though there were other thoughts that ran rampant in her head. Being one who was familiar with the god there was one thing she could say for certain. Helios didn’t give unless there was something he could take. Frecklefern didn’t dare allow the thought to cross her lips. The last thing she desired to do was worry her dear sister with those ideas. A smile crawled its way upon her maw as she looked upon her family. The god was welcome to try and take whatever he wished, but he should be expecting a fight.
