There was still fear upon the churning waters of her expression as they made their way into the territories. The poor little apprentice even hesitated a few moments, as Muddyfoot’s paws moved. But as his tail started to disappear into the brush, a brief panic washed over her form and Littlepaw shot after her mentor, not wanting to lose sight of him. Not if they were going out there. If she lost sight of him out there, she’d surely get lost, and could even be stuck out there during the night. Now that was the real terrifying thought. It pushed paws forward as she caught up to the scarred warrior, sticking close to his side with a bit of a shake as the trees closed around them.
Littlepaw’s eyes squeezed shut for a few moments, simply stumbling alongside her mentor, trying to block the bombardment of smells, sounds, and sights from her mind. It was a lot for a new, timid apprentice who had never set foot outside camp. It was only when the sound of Muddyfoot’s voice rang in her ears did the small she-cat timidly open her optics to the world once more. She looked first up at him, registering his words. It took her another full second, to finally gulp and look around at the woods.
And then, she saw nature’s beauty for the first time.
Apple green eyes widened like saucers when she saw what laid out before her very form. Leaves dancing in the gentle breeze. Birds calling to each other, giving the foliage a song to dance to. A bright, gorgeous blue sky, dotted with clouds here and there, accenting the gentle blues high, high above Littlepaw. It was a world she had never seen, a world that was beautiful, big, and a world that Muddyfoot was helping her see. Her fur even puffed out, to show the amount of emotion coursing through her at that very moment in time.
And it was then that the warrior saw her first smile. Big and bright and hopeful, and it was clear that Littlepaw was feeling something she had never felt before.
Happiness.
